![]() ![]() You can get this print that I designed for free to go along with your activity right below. ![]() I wanted to remind the ladies that now more than ever we need to be there for each other, our neighbors, our ministering sisters because we have not been going to church, we don’t have that strength and support that we usually do and we need to check in on each other. My Mom always says that when she gives service to others it helps her to feel better and pulls her out of the stress, anxiety and depression that we can sometimes slip into. To remember that the world needs your specific talents and you can bring lightness to the darkness. I felt like it was the right spiritual thought for the times we are in. Oscarson, “Young Women in the Work.” The talk was for Young Women but it applies to anyone really. Our theme was “Service”, I chose a talk from General Conference 2017 by Sister Bonnie L. Something nice to get them out of the house during these stressful times and to relax. What I loved hearing, is that ladies that have been coming to Relief Society Activities for years were saying they had never done anything like this and it was “fun and relaxing”, which is EXACTLY what I was going for. Apparently some of the ladies didn’t come because they said they were not artistic. I do wish I would’ve advertised that the watercolor is like a coloring page and that NO ARTISTIC ABILITIES are needed. A good tip is try to get sign-ups for food to help the budget and to get people to the activity haha!ĪLRIGHT, now that I got that little tid-bit out of the way, onto the actual activity! PAINT NIGHT! We played with this idea in my old ward and it never came together. It does make it a bit tough because you have a budget to stick to and you don’t want to be over-prepared or under-prepared. And then you aren’t as upset if it isn’t a good turnout or something doesn’t go right. I was VERY nervous about this activity, I wasn’t sure if anyone would come, or if EVERYONE would come because it was the first activity in forever! The motto I try to live by while in this calling, is to just do my best, get the word out, and whoever does come, needed to be there. The ladies that came didn’t seem too concerned about social distancing but were very respectful about it! ![]() We had people bring dinner trays to help with the distance situation. ![]() We planned it to be “social distanced”, we advertised that masks were not mandatory but they could wear one, and we placed our seats 6 feet from each other. Working carefully with the Relief Society & the Bishopbric we got permission to do an activity outside! It felt long overdue, it had been about 6 months since we last met. I was able to do one in February, my first one in this ward. No matter what they're into, they'll find something to amuse themselves.This activity was our first one since COVID-19. And there are plenty of learning activities that can support whatever topics they're exploring in school. (And if there's a holiday coming up, we have additional project ideas for special occasions like Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day.) Others are indoor or backyard games they can try at home when they're in the mood for some head-to-head competition. Many of them are DIYs and crafts ideas for kids that'll let them set their creativity loose. Here are the best fun activities for kids to try in 2023. When those empty hours strike, it can be tempting for them to run to the nearest adult and just whine, "I'm bored!" But you can head those complaints off at the pass by keeping some fun ideas in your back pocket - especially ones that only require some simple materials that can easily be kept around the house. Kids have a reputation for being over-scheduled, but even the ones with the busiest calendars still find themselves faced with stretches of downtime. ![]()
